Unveiling Some Swimming Pool Repair Necessities
The tile breaks, the water pump stops running, the filter got broken—these are just some of the headaches you usually get from your favorite swimming pool. What’s worse is that there are other pool damages that your favorite bathing area might encounter and you have no idea what are these.
So, before you get surprised of the many repairs that you pool might need, better be equipped with enough knowledge. There are some pool damages that can be repaired through simple processes while there are other repair needs that will require you to call professionals.
Determining Pool Repair Needs through its Main Materials
Swimming pools are commonly made from three materials. These are the fiberglass, vinyl, and concrete. Whatever material your pool has, it is not still excused from aging. Sooner or later, your pool will experience sudden need for repair.
• Fiberglass swimming pools. Fiberglass is the most invincible material for swimming pools. However, it will react on some minerals and chemicals as well. One of the most common damage it can get is discoloration. If your fiberglass swimming pool experiences discoloration, a simple acid wash is the best remedy.
• Vinyl swimming pool. Vinyl can give your pool a very lovely appearance. But the good look can also be a curse because vinyl is very vulnerable from rips and tears in the lining. You should repair the small tears as soon as you notice them. But there are lining damages that can’t be remedied by simple repair but a total replacement of the lining. Better do that as soon as the pool needs it. Besides, doing this is cheaper than overhauling your concrete pool.
• Concrete swimming pools. Concrete pools’ weakness is the changing weather. Cooling and warming can bring damages on the concrete pool. You might find cracks on that in no time. Better patch small cracks immediately and leave the larger cracks to professionals since these will need overhauling of your pool.
Pump and Filter Pool Repair
Aside from the materials of your pool, other concerns of your swimming pool are its filter and pump.
Knowing which between these two has the problem is just easy if only one is not working okay. But if the pump stops working along with the filter, then you might have difficulty pointing out which of these two has the real problem.
Usually, filter and pump problems are only caused by clogging. You can check these two pool parts for any clogs. Clean them up if you found some clogs. If not, maybe a torn hose cause that problem.
There are also some times that repairing the filter and pump requires special chemical treatment. It will be helpful that you check the filter and pump first before you call a professional.
The professional might give you some pieces of advice on how to fix the problem by yourself. The professional is just a call away if you can’t fix the pool problem.
Meanwhile, you might experience sudden stop of the entire pool system. Sometimes, this can be caused by the safety feature in our pool system. This happens if the pool system sniffs danger. It automatically turns off all electric utilities to protect the pool users.
