Ensuring Your Salt Water Pool Is Clean and Safe
When you have a pool, you must be prepared to maintain its cleanliness always. Not only will this maintain the sparkle of your pool, this will also make sure that the pool is safe for your use. If you have a salt water pool, however, you will have to do it less often. This should be good news. But still, make sure you never ever overlook maintenance.
Take Dirt Out of the Water
It’s quite important that the water of your salt water pool is always clear. Even without putting chlorine on the pool, the water should be clear if it’s clean. As many people use the pool, more dirt will be accumulated in it. Oil in the skin of the people using it will likely be left on the salt water pool as well. Of course, if the pool is open so dirt in the air would likely go there too.
That is why it is important that the salt water pool is cleaned and maintained regularly. Since dirt cannot be totally stopped from going into the pool, you should keep it clean if you want it to be safe and healthy. After all, you would not want to go into a dirty pool and face skin problems later on.
You could start your maintenance through the use of a filter. Filters would usually have baskets and screens to screen out the dirt in the water. Using sand filters even make maintenance more effective.
However, using filters is not enough. Salt water pool could still become cloudy. If this is the case you may have to check the calcium levels of your salt water pool. If there are unusual levels of calcium, you may have to use commercial products to normalize it.
This should be done from time to time as calcium is known to build especially in hard water. One symptom of this is the grayish color of the tiles. Of course, the grayish color in water is bound to happen as well. Calcium could also build up in the pool’s filter and pump. The calcium build up needs not only to be treated but the water as well.
Rust Develop in Salt Water Pools Too!
Because of the salt content, the metal pool parts are prone to rusting. That is why it is important that you check the chemical contents and the pH levels of the salt water pool. What you must do then is remove the metal. Make sure that you remove the rust as well. When you remove the rusted metals parts, use a water sealant to prevent rusting.
Again everything must be done to keep the salt water pool clean and safe always. If you want to enjoy using the pool, you have to do it regularly. You have to clean the dirt and oil in the water. You have to make sure there is no rust in the water and in all parts of the pool. And lastly, take note to use products that are appropriate for salt water pools too.
